Kenya Airways Cancels all its flights to and from Eldoret! See what happens to the passangers.

KQ has withdrawn the Eldoret to/from flights from Nairobi in order to give way to Jambo jet  which is a newly launched low-cost subsidiary, this will happen at the end of March 2014. All guest booked on Kenya airways flight between Nairobi and Eldoret will be cancelled. Guest shall contact Jambo jet directly to make a new booking including a full refund for fully unutilized tickets with refund penalty waived. For partially used tickets, the refund will be less one way fare of the portion utilized with refund penalty

Are Kenyan's Set for the new Low Cost Airline? Will they still carry those 30kg bags going to Mombasa and pay for it?

Jambo jet is a new low cost airline which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kenya airways set to revolutionize the way you travel by opening new skies for all to fly for less.
 Jambo jet is flying to

o    Mombasa
o    Kisumu
o    Eldoret
The first flight will take off on 1st April flying twice a day in Kisumu, six times to Mombasa, and once in Eldoret.
When this was announced what came to minds of many is whether Kenyan are ready for the low cost airline! Yes many said they are, but the big questions is do they know that they will pay extra for the luggages that they love to carry?  Do they know that, the cup of tea, juice or any other refreshment on board will come at a cost? Are they aware that if they need to choose a seating position it comes at a fee? If we all understand this then we are ready to go and therefore, focus on our destination and not what we are going with. The airline must then take the lead in educating our local people on all this to curb the number of complains they are likely to receive. Just like the developed countries where the passenger does almost everything for themselves, this seems to be the trend Kenyan's have to deal with, in the quest for economic growth. 
 No images of the airline has been released yet and so we will keep you posted on the looks.

The good news is that customers can pay for flights using their mobile phones making it easier and cheaper to book flights on the airline which is offering fares as low as Kshs 2,850 ($33) one way from Nairobi to Mombasa all inclusive of applicable fees. Jambo jet is set to operate a fleet of Boeing 737-300s which is the best-selling commercial jetliner and is less harmful to the environment
 Jambo jet offers a full in-flight snack menu to keep you refreshed on board the flights. Drinks and a selection of sweet and savory snacks are available at a cost.
Citizens of Kenya only need an ID card or valid driving license to fly domestically. If you are a citizen of another nation, you will be required to bring your passport.
NB: Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis so the earlier you book, the less you pay.

• If you are Kenyan, you can travel to Uganda or Rwanda using your national identity card as a travel document at the airport or at the border.
• Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda yesterday presented their joint single tourist visa to the world during the concluded International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin, Germany. This will allow visitors to enter all three countries by paying $100 instead of $150 in total for a period of 90 days. In addition, tourism officials from Kenya and Tanzania have entered into a deal that will enable Tour Operators convey tourists to selected locations in either nation. This agreement is geared towards supporting the overall East African Community integration scheme and is expected to boost business between the two nations. 
• Jambo Jet, a subsidiary of Kenya Airways will start operations on 1st April to offer one flight from Nairobi to Mombasa/Kisumu at Ksh 3,000.
• Kenyans travel to India will be required to produce an Oral polio vaccination certificate. India has eradicated the disease and officials and setting up measure to prevent reintroduction of the disease.
• On the conservation front, we have began to see Government effort in prosecution Ivory smugglers in the country. The punitive ruling would give a much-needed boost to wildlife protection efforts.

How do I get to Rwanda??

Rwanda's International Airport : Kigali International Airport (KGL) is small but efficient and only 10 minutes

from the town center. Airlines arriving here include: SN Brussels, Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Air Burundi and RwandAir Express.

Getting to Rwanda: Flying into Kigali's international airport is the easiest way to get to Rwanda. Daily buses travel between Nairobi - (Kenya) to Kampala (Uganda) and Kigali. You can catch a variety of minibus taxis to the Tanzanian border and travel onto Mwanza (Tanzania). The border to Burundi may be dangerous, but is easy to get to by minibus taxi. To get to the DRC travel via Gisenyi to Goma (DRC) by minibus taxi. We have alot of Kenya tourists trans-versing through Uganda to Rwanda for a safari tour.
