Crescent Island Game Conservancy

Crescent Island Game Sanctuary is a peninsula or island on the eastern side of Lake Naivasha. Crescent Island was created in 1988, when Lake Naivasha level dropped sufficiently to allow Crescent Island to become part of the mainland. On the eastern end of the island sailing is possible at a private boating club. The terrain is flat, making it easy for walkers of all abilities to enjoy themselves.

Among the resident birds are fish eagles, ospreys, lily-trotters, black crakes and a variety of herons among over 200 bird species. The lake has a lot of hippos, which you can easily spot from the island.
Other wildlife at Crescent Island Game Sanctuary can be seen grazing in the surrounding lake environs, such as zebra, impala, buffalo, giraffe, Kongoni and, at night, hippos.

There is also possibility to access it by road passing through the "Horse Riding Complex" A wide variety of wildlife, birdlife and flora lives quite freely out there and as there are no predators to be found, quite happily as well.

Spend some time wandering around at your own pace and enjoy the peace and quiet broken only by the sounds of the Islands wild inhabitants.

At only two hour's drive from Nairobi, Lake Naivasha Crescent Island is a great place to forget the Nairobi urban life and do some sport activities such as hiking, walking, biking and/or game viewing and is a popular weekend retreat for the local communities.

Cottars 1920's Safari Camp

A 1920's era feel to this camp set near the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. This camp gives you the authentic feel of that unique era when the word 'safari' became indelibly imprinted on the imagination of the adventurer, past and modern.

The Cottar family provide guests with the highest standard of personalized and professional guiding. Tailor made itineraries ensure the safari provides a unique experience for guests. Recalling an era of luxury and quality, Cottar's 1920's Safari Camp in the Maasai Mara returns to the original spirit and essence of 'safari', reminiscent of a golden era - an era of romance, professional guiding, adventure and elegance, in a timelessly unspoiled setting with panoramic views and boundless game.

The Cottar's 1920's Safari Camp is situated in an extensive and exclusive concession between the Maasai Mara, Serengeti and Loliondo reserves where a few Purko Maasai clan roam. This area has been untouched by any kind of tourism or development and offers the discerning client a guarantee of privacy.

Most importantly, the camp is situated in less congested area of the Mara away from lodges, safari vans and other effects of mass tourism. The area is more akin to being in the expansive Serengeti National Park, but with the advantage of 'off the road' driving due to the very low vehicle density of the area, and the fact that we can walk and operate 'night game drive' activities in this community concession.
